Overview
Askerne “The Archer” Chardonnay 2019 is a standout expression of this variety from Askerne, representing the pinnacle of the vineyard’s Chardonnay production. A blend of predominantly Mendoza, with smaller proportions of Clone 15 and Clone 95, the fruit was grown on the stony, sandy soils of the lower terrace. With yields reduced to around 2.5 kg per vine, this wine was hand harvested in March 2019, whole bunch pressed, and fermented in a combination of inoculated and wild French oak barriques. After fermentation, the wine was aged on lees for 10 months with stirring to enhance texture and complexity, and underwent 100% malolactic fermentation.
