Overview
Askerne “Tere” Syrah 2019 is a distinguished wine from the stony sandy soils of Askerne's lower terrace. Harvested on 4 April 2019, the fruit underwent a cold soak for 6 days before fermentation. The wine was then aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, with 33% of the oak being new, allowing for a harmonious blend of fruity intensity and oak-driven complexity. This Syrah showcases the depth and vibrancy characteristic of the Askerne style, with a focus on accentuating savoury elements and introducing rich aromatic layers.
Tasting Notes
The wine presents deep red-purple hues, leading into aromas of dark berry fruits, particularly raspberry and black currant, interwoven with signature Syrah spices such as white pepper and Chinese five spice. A subtle backdrop of vanilla and toast from the oak enhances the savoury profile. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and structured, with a line of acidity that elegantly binds the rich fruit and oak notes.
