Family run and based in Riverhead, Auckland the winery has combined modern technology with traditional methods to coax the most distinctive flavours from some of New Zealand’s finest locally grown fruits. Boysenberry, Feijoa and Kiwifruit varieties exist in still and sparkling, all naturally low in alcohol at just 8.5% in comparison to regular wine made from grapes that usually sits above 12%. The New Zealand Fruit Wine Competition was set up to promote excellence in fruit winemaking for the benefit of fruit winemakers and consumers. The competition is run by Malcolm Reeves, Lecturer in Oenology at EIT along with 2 other judges, all of whom are qualified grape wine judges and with a keen interest in fruit wines.
