Overview:
Founded in 1815 by the Scottish brothers Robert and John Cockburn, Cockburn's has a rich history rooted in the pursuit of excellence. The company's commitment to quality wine began with securing top-tier Port at its source, ensuring a superior product over the influx of inferior, mass-produced wines in Britain at the time. Following a challenging period under corporate ownership, Cockburn's returned to its original vision after being acquired by the Symington family in 2010, focusing once again on producing exceptional Port wines.
Tasting Notes:
Cockburn’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port boasts a vibrant tawny red colour, a true reflection of its maturity and depth. The nose offers an enticing blend of lively candied fruit aromas, enhanced by the richness of toffee, caramel, and honey. On the palate, the wine is beautifully rounded, with delicious mature dried fruits complemented by delicate hints of walnuts and almonds. The result is an exquisitely mellow Port with a long, luscious finish that lingers on the tongue. This Tawny Port is the ideal companion to sweet pastries, such as a warm apple pie with cinnamon. It also serves as a fantastic alternative to Vintage Port, making it perfect for relaxed, informal occasions with good friends. Serve lightly chilled for the best experience. Once opened, it will keep for several weeks.
