Overview:
Melika’s Field 2021 reflects the finest white fruit of the Home Block vineyard, crafted to preserve a memory of place and season. This year’s vintage is a crisp, restrained expression co-fermented from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Albariño, Semillon, Sauvignon Gris, Petit Manseng, and Muscat ā Petit Grains. Withheld malolactic fermentation and minimal bâtonnage highlight the purity and brightness of this evolving blend, while an 18-month élevage enhances its complexity and elegance. Crafted in large-format oak and acacia barriques, the wine captures the unique volcanic and maritime character of Bay of Islands terroir. A testament to evolving artistry, it honours its namesake, Melika, and her pivotal role in planting the vineyard.
Tasting Notes:
Captivating aromas of citron, magnolia flower, and chamomile introduce this beautifully balanced wine. On the palate, layers of lemongrass, yuzu, and pomelo are met with a gentle salinity, adding depth and intrigue. Its texture is elegantly broad, with a lively freshness and remarkable length. Perfectly suited to accompany delicate seafood dishes, soft cheeses, or enjoyed as an elegant standalone wine. Best enjoyed now through 2026.
