Overview:
The Domain Road Vineyard Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2021 hails from one of New Zealand’s most esteemed wine-growing regions. The vineyard is nestled in a sheltered valley in Bannockburn, Central Otago, where the unique combination of hot summers and cool, dry autumns allows the grapes to fully ripen. The estate’s Pinot Noir vines grow in an untouched section of land, providing a complex wine that reflects the distinctive terroir shaped by the area’s gold mining history.
Tasting Notes:
This Pinot Noir is a deep garnet with purple hues and boasts a fragrant nose of violets, dark cherry, blackberry, dark plum, spice, tobacco leaf, oak char, and a hint of mint. The palate is rich and concentrated with flavours of ripe black plum, cherry, dark chocolate, and blackberry. Full-bodied with fine, silky tannins, it leads to a long, ripe berry finish. The wine's bold structure and complex layers make it an excellent match for New Zealand lamb, but also pairs wonderfully with tuna or salmon, and vegetarian dishes such as eggplant, lentils, mushrooms, or creamy pumpkin risotto.
