Overview:
The Seifried 2021 Nelson Zweigelt is made from a small parcel of less than one hectare of Zweigelt vines at the Brightwater vineyard. Originating from Hermann Seifried’s homeland of Austria, this red grape variety is a family favourite. The grapes were harvested after a light 2021 vintage, which followed a late spring frost. After de-stemming, the fruit was fermented on skins, hand-plunged, and aged for 12 months in a mix of new and three-year-old French oak barriques.
Tasting Notes:
This wine offers a succulent and bright nose of mid-weight berry fruits, with brambly notes. The palate is warm and generous, showcasing layers of plum and boysenberry, alongside spices like star anise and cinnamon, which linger beautifully on the finish.
