Beautifully labeled to evoke antiquity, this is Riesling made using ancient methods, namely extended skin contact (170 days in fact). As a result Riesling’s citrus and floral aromas are seriously amped up, with tropical notes to boot. It’s waxy, dense, dry to taste, and left unfiltered, unfined and without additions. Natural, organic and hedonistic.
Carrick is the full shebang in our books; wines produced from single-site, certified organic vineyards in one of the most beautiful wine growing regions in the world. Based in Bannockburn, Central Otago, winemaker Rosie Menzies and viticulturist Cliff Wickman head up the production of Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and of course Pinot Noir. From a recent visit, we sense this already excellent producer is going from strength to strength.
