Turanga Creek is a recently established vineyard located in Whitford, Auckland. Vineyard owners Wayne and Mandy Allen started planting in 2004 and the vines now cover more than 8ha on Whitford Park Road with the first varietals, Pinot Gris and a late harvest Viognier, released in 2008. The wine has been crafted by Rod McDonald, New Zealand Wine Maker of the Year 2006.

Turanga Creek is currently converting to organics and ultimately bio-dynamics. Auckland’s climate poses a challenge to an organic conversion but it’s something the vineyard is solving by concentrating on quality and care of the soil and plants. Margi, the vineyard manager, is passionate about ensuring that the winemaker receives the best produce through her team’s care and attention to soil and plants. The vineyard is all hand tended.
