Te Kairanga Wines’ 105 producing hectares of established vines grow at the highest point of the famous Martinborough terrace. Here the rich alluvial gravels are deepest, extending down over 30 metres creating premium stony, free-draining soils – perfect for pinot noir. Te Kairanga Wines is one of Martinborough's original vineyards and is currently the largest producer with a 500 tonne crush yielding 50,000 cases per year. The winery has developed a reputation for the production of good quality pinot noir and aromatic wines. Harvey Steinman writing in Wine Spectator scored Te Kairanga's Reserve 2000 Chardonnay 91 out of a possible 100 points. The Runholder 2004 Pinot Noir also scored high with Wine Enthusiast – a startling 91 points.
