Deluxe Mixed Case of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc
A selection of some of the best Sauvignon Blancs produced in New Zealand including: - 4 bottles of Astrolabe Single Vineyard 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
We've sourced a tiny batch ( as only a
very small amount was made ) of this Trophy winning wine. Its the first time
we've been able to offer this single vineyard wine out and its the classic food
match wine which was proved by the Trophy it received. Out of 63 marlborough sauvignons
entered the Awatere won the overall award for the inaugral 'Greenshell Icon
Cuulinaire'- that is the best sauvignon that matchs Greenlip Mussels. The
highly regarded wine and food judges raved about the quality of this wine and it
was up against the best that Marlborough
could produce. "Passionfruit, lemon grass, gooseberry and capsicumon the
nose with a palate that is medium to full bodied in weight with strong
gooseberry and currant flavours, a hint of nettles and a crisp finish." A
stunning sauvignon, but you'd expect nothing less from Astrolable and with
their normal sauvignon winning 4 golds and 5 stars in Cuisine its hard to
imagine this could be better- but we think it is!
- 4 bottles of St Clair Block Range 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
The
Saint Clair name is synonymous with quality, award winning wines, especially in
their Sauvignon Blanc range. This wine is made from fruit harvested in single
vineyard blocks in Marlborough which
provide exciting and distinct flavour profiles to the wine.
- 4 bottles of Richardson 2006 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
This is one of the best examples of Marlborough
Sauvignon we have tried this year and produced by one of the finest talents in
N.Z.- Michelle Richardson ( ex chief winemaker at Villa ). "An intense
bouquet, reminiscent of ripe gooseberries and melon with a hint of nettle. The
palate is full and inviting with the wild ferment portion creating a viscosity
that wraps around the natural Marlborough
acidity, and the cooler ferment provides structure, fruit spectrum and provides
a lingering and moorish finish."

Premier Mixed Case of NZ Sauvignon Blanc
- 4 bottles of Astrolabe 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
Released on the 1st
August. Simon Waghorn is extremely pleased with the quality of this years wine
and when the low key Simon is excited about a wine you know it has to be good..
He writes the wine up as - "Pale straw with green highlights with aromas
of white and red currant leaf, gooseberry, lemon grass, jalapeƱo and lime peel
aromas. The palate is medium to full-bodied with strong gooseberry and currant
flavours, a hint of freshly-cut red capsicum, and a refreshingly smooth
lingering finish." Enjoy this classy sauvignon and as Bob Campbell says-
'This is one of N.Z.'s best producers of Sauvignon."
- 4 bottles of Terrace Heights Estate 2006 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
From this up and
coming winery ,( whose Pinot Noir just won "Best Pinot Noir' at the Royal
Easter Show ) grown on the stony, silty soils of the old Wirau river bed (
opposite Seresin Estate ) comes this great buying sauvignon. Made at Whitehaven
winery where Simon Waghorn is the chief winemaker. The 2006 has piercingly
intense Marlborough
flavours of fresh cut grass, gooseberries and kiwifruit. Good weight and depth
of fruit, its concentrated and dry. A great example and well priced to boot.
- 4 bottles of Highfield 2006 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
With a huge track
record of seven consecutive vintages of Highfield Sauvignon Blanc to win Gold,
and the sixth Trophy awarded to Highfield with Winemaker Alistair Soper at the
helm this record shows how good their sauvignon blanc is. Meticulous fruit
selection and cold fermentation contribute an abundant spectrum of tropical and
herbal aromas. Passionfruit, gooseberry and red pepper fragrances spring from
the glass. Extended lees contact adds depth, texture and balance to the palate.
The finish is long and crisp. "The 2006 has a very aromatic, fine, fruit
lifted nose. Juicy, fresh, lively impact is followed by a crisp, fine mid
palate that has some fruit depth as well as a citrus brightness. Finishes
fluid, soft and slightly herbal. Smart wine". Keith Stewart

Deluxe Mixed Case of New Zealand Chardonnay
A selection of some of New Zealand's top Chardonnays from various regions
including:
- 4 bottles of Kumeu River Estate 2006 Chardonnay, Auckland
The
Brajkovich's think that the 2006 vintage chardonnays rank amongst the best
they've ever made! Both the Kumeu River Estate and Maties Chardonnays make Wine
Spectator U.S.A. Top 100 Wines of the Year and have done for many years ( now
they have two additional single vineyard wines to their bow this year ) which
shows the class and consistency of one of N.Z. best chardonnays. Hand
harvested, whole bunch pressed, indigenous yeast fermentation, 100% malo-lactic
fermentation. Kumeu River
Chardonnay is drawn from six different vineyard sites in the Kumeu Region.
"The 2006 vintage was a delight from bud burst to harvest and the
Chardonnays from this year are considered to be the finest we have seen. The
wine from this spectacular vintage is ripe, floral and delicious. The beautiful
peach and hazelnut aromas along with the rich silky texture are distinct
characteristics of this wine even at this young stage. This is undoubtedly one
of the best examples we have seen of this wine and is sheer pleasure to taste
and drink. This wine will benefit greatly from a period of bottle maturation of
two to four years." M.Brajkovick.
- 4 bottles of Te Mata Elston 2006 Chardonnay, Hawkes
Bay
"One
of New Zealands
most illustrious Chardonnays, Elston is stylish, intense, slowly evolving Hawkes Bay
wine. At around 4 yrs old, it is notably complete, showing concentration and
finesse." M.Cooper. First made in 1984, Elson has evolved with greater complexity
from increasing vine age and the variety of soil types on which it is grown.
Elston 2006 is made from chardonnay grapes entirely hand harvested from Te Mata
Estate vineyards. Elston 2006 has been bottled with new technology DIAM corks.
These are washed with a liquid form of carbon dioxide which eliminates any
possibility of cork taint."Elston Chardonnay 2006 is a light golden/ green
colour with aromas and flavours of citrus blossom, peach and buttered toast.
The ripe and full palate has a lovely fresh acidity providing structure and
great length to this quality wine."
- 4 bottles of Astrolabe 2006 Chardonnay, Marlborough
Just released and what a follow on from the 92/100 and
Gold at the Air N.Z. 2005 vintage. Simon Waghorn is a perfectionist both in the
vineyard and winery and it certainly shows in this delicious chardonnay. Soft
and creamy with great texture. Its elegant, with slightly leafy citrus and
white peach flavours plus a suggestion of nutty lees characters. Stylish
chardonnay from a winery that is widely regarded as one of NZ's best sauvignon
blanc makers.
