The 2007 awards attracted 1375 entries and 754 medals were awarded, 76 of them gold, under the guidance of Bob Campbell MW, chairman of judges.
Terry Dunleavy, director of the competition, noted the continuing improvement in wine quality with Sauvignon Blanc reflecting a very good 2006 vintage and Pinot Noir and Riesling continuing to rise.
